Mission is open to all eligible students who meet at least one of the following: 

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate
  • Passed the State Proficiency Test
  • Obtained a G.E.D.
  • High School Students who have completed the 10th grade.

What Type of Student are You?

First Time Attending

If you've never attended Mission and want to earn a degree/certificate or transfer to a four-year school, follow these steps for admissions.

Personal Enrichment or Four-Year College Student

If you want to take classes for personal enrichment, or you are a student at a four-year institution taking classes for a BS or BA degree, complete the following steps to apply and enroll.

1. Apply Online

Create your OpenCCC account and apply to Mission College.

2. Register & Pay for Classes

Enroll and pay for classes on/after your registration date via the My Mission Portal. Pay fees on time to keep your spot in classes.

Incoming Transfer Student

If you've attended college before but are new to Mission or West Valley College, complete the following steps.

1. Apply Online

Create your OpenCCC application for admission online via CCC Apply.

2. Send in Transcripts

Submit previous official college transcripts for verification to the Admissions Office.

3. Sign Up for Financial Aid

Submit your FAFSA, Dream Act and more. Apply for Financial Aid to get help paying for your education. Visit financialaid.missioncollege.edu for more information.

4. Complete Orientation

Register for COU 000A - Orientation to Mission College or COU 005, 023 or 145B My Mission Portal at mywvm.wvm.edu

During the orientation, students will receive assistance with selecting courses and an Abbreviated Educational Plan (AEP).

5. Complete Assessment

Use an assessment measure to determine English, Math, or ESOL placement. 

Assessment tests are in Math, English, Reading and ESL. Go to the Assessment Center, Room SEC-109. Office hours and sample tests are available at assessment.missioncollege.edu.

If you have completed classes or tests elsewhere and would like them considered as an alternative to the assessment test, visit prerequisites.missioncollege.edu.

6. Meet with a Counselor

Schedule a counseling appointment at the Counseling Office, SEC-139 or at chat with a counselor.. During the appointment students will create a Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP).

7. Register & Pay for Classes

Enroll and pay for classes on/after your registration date on My Mission Portal. Pay your fees on time to keep your spot in classes.

Applying as a Veteran

You are a Veteran or are Military Affiliated (reservists, active duty, dependents) and want to attend our school, follow these steps.

Returning Student

You are as student in good standing with fewer than 100 degree applicable units, have stopped attending for one or more primary terms and want to reenroll at Mission.

1. Apply Online

Create your OpenCCC application for admission online via CCC Apply. You must complete a new Mission College online application if absent for 1 or more years.

2. Meet with a Counselor

Schedule a counseling appointment at the Counseling Office, SEC-139. During the appointment students will create a Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP).

3. Register & Pay for Classes

Enroll and pay for classes on/after your registration date via the My Mission Portal. Pay fees on time to keep your spot in classes.
