Business and Technology Building Preps For Opening
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SANTA CLARA, CA — In a celebration of innovation and commitment to student success, Mission College is thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of the state-of-the-art Business and Technology Building.
The Business and Technology Building stands as a testament to Mission College's unwavering dedication to fostering academic excellence, collaboration, and sustainability. This remarkable facility seamlessly integrates classrooms, laboratories, and office spaces to provide students, faculty, and classified professionals with an environment conducive to creativity, learning, and community building.
The grand opening will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mission College, 3000 Mission College Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95054-1897.
"This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to education and community building. The Business and Technology Building is a testament to our dedication to creating spaces that not only inspire academic excellence but also foster a strong sense of community," said Bradley Davis, Chancellor of the West Valley Mission College District. "With its adaptable design, connection to nature, and focus on sustainability, this building represents a bright future for our students and the Santa Clara community."
The building's architectural design shows its commitment to student engagement and participation. Cutting-edge classrooms and open communal spaces have been thoughtfully tailored to inspire academic brilliance and foster meaningful connections.
"The Business and Technology Building is meticulously crafted to champion student success," Mission College President Dr. Seher Awan said. "Seamlessly integrated classrooms, laboratories, and office spaces coalesce, fostering a dynamic setting that cultivates collaboration among esteemed faculty, skilled classified professionals, and dedicated students."
Notable features of the Business and Technology Building include a grand suspended staircase, expertly assembled, and welded on site, as well as adjoining classrooms with glass garage doors that can be opened to extend into the plaza, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors. A Computational Science and Information Technology lab with an adjoining workroom enhances collaboration, and an outdoor classroom/terrace overlooks the main plaza, offering spectacular views and open-air spaces for classes and staff collaboration.
The building's commitment to sustainability is at its core, with every facet, from materials to construction methodologies and resource utilization, reflecting dedication to long-term energy efficiency and responsible resource management.
Lionakis, a multi-discipline firm specializing in architectural, structural engineering, planning, and interior design, played a pivotal role in bringing this visionary project to life.
"This facility continues the physical transformation of Mission College based on the comprehensive 2007 master plan envisioned by the District, Mission College and Lionakis. Dedicated to innovation and sustainability, the Business and Technology Building embodies the vision of a dynamic, modern, and eco-conscious educational facility. We believe it will not only provide an exceptional learning environment focused on student equity and success, but also serve as a symbol of progress and collaboration for the entire community," said Dennis Guerra, Retired Principal with Lionakis.
