WASIO will also be on-campus on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as May 14 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at our Grad Fair in TAV to take candid photo of graduates in their regalia. 

Commencement Rehearsal 

It is strongly encouraged for all graduation participants to attend Commencement rehearsal to familiarize themselves with procedures and etiquette for the ceremony. The rehearsal will be at 4 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the San Jose Civic.

You can park in the Almaden and Woz Lot and the Woz and 87 Lot nearby. Both of these lots are just a short walk away from the San Jose Civic Center.

Your parking validation code for both lots is MCCC24.

Regalia

All students participating in the Commencement ceremony must wear the regalia of a black cap, black gown and Commencement tassel. 

Regalia, such as caps, gowns, and tassels, can be purchased from our vendor PromoConnections. These items can be picked up after online purchase on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as May 14 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at our Grad Fair in the Campus Center. 

We also will have free LGBTQIA Pride stoles for anyone wishing to show their pride during Commencement. Visit the Student Engagement Center (SEC), Room, 331 or email [email protected] to express your interest and provide your contact information. 

Degree and Certificate Information 

At Mission College, we offer various degrees and certificates, including Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (AS), Associate in Art for Transfer (AAT), and Associate of Science for Transfer (AST) degrees as well as Certificates of Achievement (CA) and Certificates of Proficiency (CP).

The Office of Admissions and Records will evaluate all petitions for graduation or completion to determine eligibility for these degrees and certificates. Candidates for a degree or a certificate will receive a commemorative diploma cover at the Commencement ceremony to symbolize the conferring of a degree or a certificate.

The official degree or certificate will be mailed to you later this summer or early this fall. 

Academic Honors

Academic honors are for A.A. and AS as well as AA-T and AS-T recipients only and are determined by your degree applicable cumulative grade point average. High marks will be recognized in the Commencement program booklet provided at the ceremony as follows:  

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.8 or higher GPA and designated in the program with three stars next to their name.  
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.5 to 3.79 GPA and have two stars next to their name.  
  • Cum Laude: 3.30-3.49 GPA and is noted with one star next to their name. 
Guests and Parking Information 

We encourage you to invite your family members and friends to attend the Commencement Ceremony.

You and your loved ones can park hassle-free in not just one, but two convenient lots: the Almaden and Woz Lot and the Woz and 87 Lot. Both of these lots are just a short walk away from the San Jose Civic Center.

For our elderly and disabled guests, we've got you covered too! You can be dropped off at a designated area right outside the Civic on West San Carlos Street for your convenience. 

Grad Fair Schedule

Grad Fair will be May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as May 14 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Campus Center. Graduates can pick up regalia, take candid photos with our professional event photographer, receive their grad gift, join the alumni network and receive congratulations from campus employees. 

Tickets

We encourage family and friends to attend Commencement. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. No ticket is necessary or will be provided.
