Pacific Northwest Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition at Mission

SANTA CLARA, CA -- The Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (the Chaîne), the world's oldest and largest gastronomy and wine society, is excited to announce the upcoming Pacific Northwest Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs (JCR) Competition, scheduled to take place on March 23 at Mission College.

The mission of this competition is to foster and highlight the culinary prowess of young chefs within the rich tradition of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. By providing a platform for young chefs to showcase their skills in a competitive setting, the event aims to encourage cultural diversity in food presentation and preparation using a traditional approach.
 
Chef Jay Marshall, Conseiller Culinaire Provincial of the Pacific Northwest Province of the Chaîne, emphasized, "The competition not only encourages and promotes culinary expertise but also provides an international arena for these young chefs to display their talents and creativity."
Competitors, all under 27 years old as of September 1st of the competition year, are tasked with planning, preparing, and plating a three-course meal within four hours, utilizing a mystery basket of ingredients alongside a conventionally stocked pantry.

The esteemed Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (commonly known as the Chaîne), renowned as the globe's premier gastronomy and wine society, joyfully reveals the forthcoming Pacific Northwest Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs (JCR) Competition slated for March 23 at the prestigious Mission College.
“The goal is to encourage cultural differences in food presentation and preparation using a traditional approach," said Robert Cugini, Bailli Provincial of Pacific Northwest Province of the Chaîne.

The distinguished list of competitors for this year's event includes:

  • Vicente Gonzales-Archuleta from Monterey Peninsular Bailliage
  • Sydney Ynez Healy from San Francisco Bailliage
  • Gabriel Salazar from San Francisco Bailliage
  • Philip Liu from Napa Bailliage
  • Justin Theriault from Seattle Bailliage
  • Clementine Matthews from Seattle Bailliage
  • Renato Calderon from Sacramento Bailliage

The competition will be followed by a lunch and award ceremony, providing attendees with an opportunity to celebrate the culinary talents showcased during the event.

Furthermore, the Provincial winner will progress to the National Competition, set to take place in Seattle, Washington between June 6-8, 2024.

The National winner will then have the chance to participate in the International Competition, a prestigious event that has been a tradition since its inception in Switzerland in 1977, with the US National competition commencing in 1990.
