Mission College prepared me to succeed as a transfer student at the University of Iowa, by preparing me with supportive faculty, and a vibrant student community. While I was a quiet and shy person at first, I eventually got out of my comfort zones and participated in more areas on campus.
I worked in the International Student Center, which helped me improve my confidence and interpersonal skills. I also joined ASG (Associated Student Government) as the Marketing Director, and grew as a leader and public speaker.
I transferred to University of Iowa in August 2017 to major in Business Analytics. In the first semester, I missed my Mission College friends, my aunt and uncle, and my Hong Kong family. However, studying and examinations quickly took my focus. I enjoyed the cold temperature and snow in Iowa. I fostered new friendship with student and faculty. When graduation arrived in May of 2019, I realized how much I had grown as a person.
After graduation, I landed a job as an Associate Data Analytst with a global logistics company in Hong Kong. I help my company find ways to improve our data models and save both time and money on customer shipping. I learn so much much from my colleagues.
In the near future, I want to learn how to design data models, using deep machine languages that help different types of businesses serve customers with efficiency and profitability.
