Jennifer was born and raised in the Bay Area, graduating from Milpitas High School.
After attending UC Irvine, Jennifer worked at an educational nonprofit called City
Year in Boyle Height, Los Angeles where she solidified her passion for teaching and
working with communities of colors. Following that, Jennifer moved across the country
to New York City to get her Masters in Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University,
majoring in Elementary Inclusive Education.
Jennifer taught in Harlem and Sunset Park, Brooklyn at PS 24k, working with upper
elementary students. After a decade of teaching and living on the East Coast, Jennifer moved back to
California and transitioned out of the classroom. After taking classes at De Anza
Community College, Jennifer moved into a non-traditional educational setting helping
create and develop ethnic studies curriculum based on San Francisco Chinatown's long
history of community activism, resilience, and art at an arts and culture community-based
organization.
Jennifer is passionate about Asian American studies, learning the narratives and stories
of community figures, and empowering youth to speak up for marginalized voices.
