Dr. Katrina Hermoso as Director of EOPS/CARE, CalWorks, and NextUp programs. Dr. Hermoso proudly identifies as an immigrant from the Philippines, a first-generation college student, and a product of the California Community College system. Dr. Hermoso most recently earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern California.

Her dissertation research focused on identifying the social capital and institutional factors that supported community college students with their transfer experiences to four-year institutions.  She earned her master’s degree in Multicultural Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from California State University, Long Beach. Prior to transferring to CSU Long Beach, Dr. Hermoso completed her general education requirements at El Camino College and Los Angeles Harbor College.

In the 17 years that she has served in higher education, Dr. Hermoso led and supported the work of programs such as the Educational Opportunity Program, Promise Program, Title V Program, TRiO Student Support Services, and TRiO Upward Bound.

Dr. Hermoso served in leadership roles under both divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at CSUDH.  She joins our Mission College Student Services Division after serving as the Program Coordinator of Inreach Services at Mt. San Antonio College, where she was responsible for facilitating the onboarding process of prospective students, the engagement of continuing students, and ultimately providing the necessary guidance to the over 60,000 students at the college.

Dr. Hermoso strives to work across our campus community and within surrounding communities to mobilize the resources and support needed to help students reach their goals while also closing the equity and completion gaps for disproportionately impacted students
