Omar Murillo comes to Mission College from Salinas, CA, also known as “The Salad Bowl.” He has over 15 years of experience working in various institutions of higher education and prides himself on being student-centered and facilitating authentic connections with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
Omar joined Mission in 2016 as the Director of AANAPISI grant initiatives and transitioned to the Vice President of Student Services role in 2018. Prior to joining Mission, Omar spent seven years at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) as a TRIO Retention Specialist and a Program Coordinator.
Aside from his educational work, Omar has volunteered his time as a non-profit board member for the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts (ACFA) in Salinas, CA and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA.)
