Mary quickly developed a love of cooking and an interest in nutrition, often helping out in the kitchen cooking dinner for family at a young age. After a few nutrition classes in college, she decided to pursue a career in the field, deciding upon a masters degree in Nutritional Sciences.
Once she completed her degree, she moved to Boston for her dietetic internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital. After a year on the East Coast, she returned to California to complete the requirements to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Mary worked over a decade in public health nutrition on various activities, including coordination of community-based social marketing and partnering with schools and organizations in Santa Clara County to enact healthy changes.
Mary also taught nutrition through Evergreen Community College and worked freelancing nutrition articles and consulting. When not teaching, Mary enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially hiking, relaxing at the beach, cooking, and baking.
