Jim has been an employee of Mission College since 1977, initially as a part time instructor in Physics and Astronomy, then a Fulltime employee for 40 years, retiring in 2021. After retiring, Jim continues to teach Physics as a parttimer because he loves the career and enjoys being around the vibrant Mission students.

- AB in Astronomy, University of California, Berkeley.
Courses Taught
h4>Jim has taught all the courses in the Physics and Astronomy department, but has mostly focused on the calculus-based Engineering Physics courses, especially Electricity & Magnetism and Thermodynamics, Optics and atomic physics.
Fun Facts
I have spent 30 years working with the fire service dealing with trucks (aerials), the design and failure of aerial ladders as well as teaching classes (including state certification courses) on the physics of aerials for the California Fire Mechanics Academy through the State Fire Marshal's Office. I have written a learning manual called "The Physics of Aerials".
