Melissa Johns was born and raised in Central California, as the daughter of two lifelong public school educators. After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Melissa launched her career at a small non-profit in East Palo Alto, California, and she’s been serving the Bay Area community ever since.

Melissa is passionate about leveling the educational playing field for students in underserved communities and believes that when smart, collaborative people focus on the issue, deep and lasting change can happen. She’s seen it first-hand.

Over the past 17 years, she has raised millions, built exceptional teams, led organizations through dramatic growth, and partnered with private and public stakeholders to drive change. Melissa also gives back by serving as Board Chair of My Digital Tat2, a digital literacy and educational non-profit.
